Streamlined Project Management with Jira

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Once we got past the learning phase, Jira significantly improved our project efficiency and collaboration. I highly recommend it for teams seeking to enhance productivity.

Pros:

Jira’s flexibility and customizable workflows are fantastic for tailoring project management to any team’s needs. Its integration with tools like Confluence and Bitbucket enhances collaboration, and the reporting features provide valuable insights.

Cons:

The initial learning curve can be steep, making it overwhelming for new users. Configuring advanced workflows might also be complex.

Startup uses Jira to ship fast

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: We used Jira to run agile methodology for a 8-person team at a startup.

Pros:

First, it was easy to get started with common guiderails. There was a deep feature set that figured out, made Jira flexible for use cases. The integrations with CI/CD & customer success tools were very helpful for keeping the data in Jira up to date.

Cons:

The depth of the product made it hard to configure when experimenting with changes to our workflow.

Abysmal quality for sky high price

1.0 last month New

Comments: We chose the data center product after the server product was discontinued because our users were familiar with it and did not want to move to something new. From the first install, it was a nightmare. Other products - if you want to move from one server to another, you just back up on the old server and restore on the new one. With Jira - we had to buy a plug in to import and export it all. That's where we started to see the data integrity issues. The plug in knew to check where dependencies were missing, but Jira never flagged any problems when something was changed that broke a dependency. I can't even begin to describe the endless stream of issues we've been facing for months. Atlassian is after your money, not your satisfaction with their product.

Pros:

It supports two-factor authentication now.

Cons:

This company ignores every software development best practice. Unresolved bug and feature requests on their support site are often more than a decade old. They rely on plug-in developers to make broken things work, and the plug-ins generally come with a ridiculously high price tag. No admin tasks, from the simplest data validation to proper relationships between Assets objects, can be accomplished without work-arounds. And the workarounds generally break other things. Data integrity is a joke in Jira and JSM, especially in Assets. If you want your data to be clean and accurate, be prepared to learn a lot of code.

Jira: excellent app for service management

4.0 7 days ago New

Comments: It's a powerful tool for IT teams, offering robust features for managing service requests and incidents with efficiency. While the learning curve and pricing may pose challenges, its integration capabilities and automation have changed the way I interact with customers and partners

Pros:

centralized platform for managing IT service requests, incidents, and changes. Its integration with other Atlassian tools enables streamlined workflows and team collaboration. The platform's customizable dashboards, automated workflows, and robust reporting features enhance efficiency, while its user-friendly interface simplifies issue tracking and resolution for both agents and customers

Cons:

It can feel overwhelming for new users due to its complexity and extensive customization options. Pricing may be a concern for smaller organizations, especially as the user base grows. The mobile app is a mess :-)

Love Jira!

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: I really like Jira, it keeps everyone in the organization involved and accountable to their portion of work, and takes out the weight of trying to remember and write down everything that is needed from you. You can just login and refresh your mind!

Pros:

Jira makes it very easy to make sure no aspects of a project are overlooked or skipped when moving with speed within our organization! Every step is documented and visible, keeping organization throughout time sensitive projects!

Cons:

It took me a bit to understand the different dashboard views within Jira, jumping to see just my tasks, all projects I'm apart of, and kanban views. I know it well now, but I remember some initial frustrations with that when first learning the system

Improves productivity, but misses a few basic features to make it even better

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: Overall, my experience is very positive. There are minor issues and things you have to work around, depending on the use case. I worked with Jira both as a user and an admin. There were minor issues affecting productivity with both, but it's definitely net-positive even for a smaller team of 2-3 devs.

Pros:

The standout features are the high level of customisability and the development integrations. I was able to set up automations based on our pipelines. We used Bitbucket from Atlassian as a version control system, so the integrations worked even better. I like that the platform is fairly friendly for smaller dev teams, too. While some features are price-locked behind higher tier plans, it's doable for small teams with lower budget, too. When you need extensions, that's also manageable because most of them are free or cheap under 10 users.

Cons:

I had two major problems. First on is that automations are very limited in executions on the lower tier plans. Actions like "assign on transition" should be a basic thing that's included in all plans, unlimited. Assigning tasks to the right person at the right time is crucial for lean operations. Second is that project duplication doesn't work very well. You lose some of the issue schemes, workflows, etc. At the same time, every time you create a new project, Jira creates new schemes/workflows for it - even if you use the same ones for all of your projects. That creates clutter, and to my knowledge it was impossible to set up a project template in Jira cloud. Other than that, at times, the interface can encounter bugs. That's understandable with the complexity of the product, but it's still annoying.

Overall top product for software development task tracking and management

4.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Overall, as a product owner, I could not anyway stay on top of things if I would not use Jira daily. Prioritising is the biggest thing for me and our team and Jira helps with that a lot. The product is also startup friendly when it comes to the pricing/subscriptions.

Pros:

Jira, as a part of other Atlassian products, has been improved a lot in the last year. When we started with Jira, we were only using it for development task tracking, nowadays we are using it, along with Confluence and Bitbucket, as the backbone of our technical records. Jira takes time to get to know to, but they are improving the UI towards more user friendly way. I have not yet found any possible alternatives for the overall capabilities of Jira.

Cons:

Some part of settings and some more advanced options in Jira are still a bit hard to reach. But you just need to use the docs and search for help from the internet when you feel like you are stuck. There are a lot of Jira users out there and many of the issues you will face when using it, have been recognised and people have found word arounds.

I personally liked the automation with gitHub that allows to update the status and give the right direction to various members accross so many different teams.

Pros:

The ease to add or remove the tasks and handle various operations in the team

Cons:

There are glicthes sometimes which we are unaware of how to handle them on immediate basis.

Jira simplifies project management for teams.

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: On my own, I like Jira extensive issue tracking system. It lets me write thorough tickets that catch everything and hold my team accountable. I have not encountered many options with the ability to adapt processes to our project.

Pros:

Jira stands out because it can be customized to almost any project management methodology. This has greatly helped my team's particular process needs. These are better than most reporting solutions I've used. I schedule sprints using their more detailed project statuses, velocity charts, and burn down metrics.

Cons:

Though improved, the user experience still feels strange and slow, which bothers me when working.

Excellent Tool

5.0 3 months ago

Comments: Overall I would rate it good, it's a perfect tool for any software or even non-software organization. I think the backend team is quite innovative and creative that I feel I would not think of any other alternative for the next 10 years.

Pros:

It's Easy to use, the user interface is quite user friendly. Almost everything self explanatory, from raising a bug to closing it, resolving it. If any new person who has never used JIRA, starts using it, it wouldn't take more than 1-2 days for him/her to fully understand it. Additionally it provides you an option of extracting reports where you can view/track your/your team's performance, the work load and many more things which would help you take decisions. I also like the feature of creating dashboards in JIRA, it gives a rich and professional look to your work, which you can showcase to your team, management and other stakeholders.

Cons:

There's not much but the scope of reports and dashboard is sometimes limited like I wish to include more options/filters but I couldn't.

Jira is AWESOME!!!

5.0 last month New

Comments: It’s a pleasure to use this tool and I get excited when I see companies using it because it I understand the efficiency it creates internally for teams.

Pros:

The collaboration and transparency the tool creates inter-departmentally and cross functionally between companies is phenomenal.

Cons:

Would love a way to request permissions within the product. I currently need to reach out to parties outside of the platform via email when I don’t have permissions to certain documents or boards, or want to be a watcher on a ticket. It would be nice if there was an ask for permission button within the browser.

Excellent all-around project management / work-tracking tool

5.0 2 months ago New

Comments: Jira is an excellent all-around project management / work-tracking tool. Rather than being a bug tracking application, it allows to plan, execute, and monitor the whole lifecycles. Working with it for over 12 years, I've seen it grow in many features and capabilities that facilitate team work.

Pros:

* Easy to learn and use. * Powerful, flexible, and useful features for managing work and projects. * Has many templates for managing work via Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, etc. * Timeline, backlog, and board features are super helpful for communication, collaboration, and coordination of work. * Plenty of capabilities for integrations and add-ons for enhanced / additional functionality.

Cons:

Jira in itself is sufficient for most things and while add-ons could increase features and potentially productivity, they can be expensive depending on the number of users. Capabilities and limitation differences between team-managed and company-managed projects can be confusing. The former is a simplified setup that facilitates system administration by giving teams autonomy, but it can be frustrating to manage and work with its limitations.

Awesome Projects and Tasks Management tool

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: Overall I'm very happy to use Jira in a daily basis. It brings structure and clarity to our project management processes. It is also well connected with the other software of the company, line Slack or Salesforce.

Pros:

'Simplicity' is the first word that comes to my mouth when defining Jira. It is incredibly easy to handle for inexperienced users, at least for the basic features - which is enough for a good part of users. In addition I particularly like the possibility to install add-ons: there is most probably always an existing add-on to solve your problem, just need to search for it.

Cons:

I'm not fully satisfied with the time management feature, in particular the need for a DB extract to get the data. On Jira-online, the "Transitions" view is slow to display, always annoying since it's a useful option.

Made a notable impact on the way we report, manage and track bugs to resolution

4.0 6 months ago

Pros:

We've been using Jira Software for the past few months. First of all, it's pretty good tool for tracking and managing tasks, but there are a few things that could be improved. One thing I really like about Jira is the ability to create detailed tasks and sub-tasks. It helps in breaking down our monthly goals and KPIs into manageable pieces. This makes it easier to track progress, assignments and stay updated on the overall completion stats. Everyone has visibility into what they need to do and when. . It can be frustrating when you're in a hurry and the page takes forever to load. I've heard from some colleagues that this is a common issue, so I hope they improve the performance soon. The integration with other tools is great. We use Slack and Intercom, and the way Jira connects with these tools is really convenient. It makes communication much smoother.

Cons:

I found the interface to be a bit overwhelming at first. There's so many features and options that it was confusing for me at times. It took me a while to get the hang of it, and I had to read up docs (which were not so easy to understand) on how to use the Jira automation feature. Maybe it would be better if they simplified the layout a bit. Another thing that I found annoying is the speed. Sometimes, Jira can be really slow, especially when you're dealing with large projects like ours.
