For example, the billing functionality automatically posts most ERAs and automatically files secondary claims. These features save our practice a tremendous amount of administrative time and make a noticeable difference in our day-to-day workflow.The support team is another major strength. They are professional, responsive, and willing to work through problems with us. We have also found them receptive to suggestions and requests for improvements. That willingness to listen and make changes gives us confidence that the product will continue to get better. The system is also customizable, which is particularly valuable because every medical practice has slightly different workflows. We appreciate having the ability to adapt the system to our needs rather than being forced into a rigid workflow. > > **Cons**: Tools like the clinical decision (pulls lists of patients based on clinical data) are currently not very intuitive, and the administrative reporting capabilities could be more robust. Workflows involving nurse documentation, fax sorting and history reports (table of contents for chart) are currently being upgraded but formerly weren't as easy to navigate as we would like. That said, many of these issues are being addressed gradually. While they can be frustrating, they do not outweigh the overall value of the product to our practice. > > Overall, we have had a very positive experience with this EMR. In this day and age where customer service is becoming more unavailable, it is nice to have customer service that you can reach when needed. I think there EHR does give you value for your money and within reason they try to accommodate your clinical needs as a practice. Recently, they have been rolling out some updates that have improve the visual graphical interface, improved workflows and usability. > > **Cons**: Some of the workflows are clunky and not user friendly. 1.) In reminder notifications, date format is YYYY/MM/DD. We frequently have patients who misread the date and miss their appointments because of that. 2.) From a physician's POV, they would prefer that when they pull up a patient, it acts like a paper chart where there are tabs that take you to all relevant aspects of the patients detail rather than have to close windows and open other windows to access information. 3.) The system frequently has glitches that require you to restart a workflow or log out to log back in. 4.) Patients frequently report that they have issues with the log-in workflow of the patient portal and they have to re-do process. 5.) Even though in the portal there is a feature that allows patients to update their demographics, on the clinic side, we are unable to merge that information. Any attempt to do this, gives you the warning that it will create a "new patient". So, you have to manually update any patient demographic changes which defeats the purpose of the patient updating their details via the portal. 6.) When patients use the portal to upload documents, there isn't an effective error message notification that alerts them to the document type that is accepted. Sometimes patients upload docx files which aren't accepted by the system and on the clinic side, it downloads as a text documents with unreadable text. > > Overall our clinic has a fairly decent experience with NovoClinical.
