Its strongest feature is the ability to search for previously assessed candidates using detailed filters, including an AI-powered filtering option. This makes it much easier to rediscover qualified candidates already in the database instead of starting every search from scratch. The sequencing functionality is another major advantage. It allows recruiters to manage outreach and follow-ups directly within the platform, making the recruitment process more organized and efficient. Applicant management is generally intuitive, and Ashby brings sourcing, outreach, interview management, and pipeline tracking together effectively. I also like that Ashby is expanding its integrations with external AI tools through MCP. I have not personally tested this because availability depends on the company’s plan, but it is a capability I would be very interested in using. > > **Cons**: The Quick AI Criteria Filter feature, which is designed to help review applications in bulk, needs improvement. In my experience, its assessments are not consistently accurate or reliable enough to use without carefully reviewing the results manually. The idea is valuable, but the feature currently requires too much verification to be fully trusted. > > I have used Ashby as a recruiter for over a year now, primarily for applicant management, candidate searches, outreach sequences, interview coordination, and general recruitment process management. My overall experience has been very positive. The platform is relatively easy to use and offers much more powerful search and filtering capabilities than other ATS platforms I have worked with. Its ability to help recruiters rediscover previously evaluated candidates is particularly valuable, while sequences make passive-candidate outreach and follow-ups much easier to manage. There are still AI features that could be improved, particularly Quick AI Criteria, but Ashby’s core recruiting and applicant-management capabilities are excellent. The implementation felt overly manual and complex, and nearly a year later, the platform remains unintuitive and cumbersome to use. Key capabilities sold to us—specifically SMS and WhatsApp integration—are non-existent. Given the vendor’s strong presence in the UK market, it is surprising how underpowered it feels compared to alternative ATS platforms. It seems built for a much larger organization, making standard tasks like setting up new jobs or building processes excessively heavy. Furthermore, reporting is complicated and frequently yields inaccurate data. While staff are helpful and communication has picked up recently, the core product still requires substantial usability improvements. > > Overall, I have used superior ATS platforms in the past. On a positive note, our recent customer support has been fantastic—a massive improvement from where it was. Ultimately, teams want an intuitive system that simplifies hiring and delivers an exceptional candidate experience, and this platform falls well short of that benchmark.
