> **Pros**: Arq stands out from other commercial options due to its zero-knowledge encryption, providing users with greater privacy and security. The software is easy to use and fairly intuitive. Arq Backup is also well integrated into macOS, ensuring seamless operation and compatibility with Apple's operating system. One of the standout features of Arq Backup is its excellent file recovery, which includes filesystem metadata, allowing users to recover lost data with ease. Additionally, Arq Backup offers total control over data, allowing users to store their data wherever they choose, including multiple destinations, which is a great feature for those who have experienced data loss in the past. Finally, Arq Backup's offline backups are a great hedge against ransomware, providing an added layer of protection against cyber threats.

> **Cons**: Arq is produced by a small company and is closed source, which means that I am somewhat uncomfortable using it for long-term archival purposes... who can say whether it'll be around in ten or twenty years. I would prefer to use open formats for this, although I'm yet to find a good solution.

> **Pros**: It probably took me less than an hour to install and set up, and it was basically set it and forget it.  It runs two independent backup schedules - one locally and another for the cloud.  I did have to restore my main drive from the local backup once, and it performed flawlessly.  This is a reliable and inexpensive backup solution.

> **Cons**: I really don't have any negatives.  It doesn't remember my birthday, though. ;)

> We consolidated our video storage to a 8TB shared drive.  I needed a reliable back up both locally and on the cloud that wasn't going to bust our budget.  We went with the Arq7 app to do nightly backups to another 8TB drive and backups to the cloud three times a week.  I the 15 months I've been using this solution, I've had one question and one warning that I needed to contact their tech support people for.  In both instances, I got my answer within 3 hours.
