What Is Discord?
Discord is a communication platform that makes it possible to maintain public or private communities where users can chat by video, audio, and text. Discord communities are organized using channels and roles, which allows the moderating of conversations, granting of differentiated access to some users, and defining a series of settings, such as the volume of audio messages shared by each participant and the integration of bots to automate content.

I Use Discord Every Day
Comments: I've used the basic version of Discord (no Nitro or anything fancy like that) for years now, and more recently have been using it for work due to Covid. It's been a great way to keep in touch in all cases. It's fast and easy and rarely goes down.I've also had the opportunity to moderate on a couple of servers. While there are certain very specific things that I wished were available, there was still a lot of room to personalize and add to the servers, and everything was relatively easy to learn with a few quick google searches.
Pros:
It is my main method of communicating with friends and family. Overall, it's fast to setup and easy to use, especially when you've had a few weeks to get used to the format.
Cons:
There are limitations for group chats and video channels. I don't know if you can get rid of these by paying, but they can be annoying when you want to get a group together but have one or two too many participants.
Discord: Get your plate, and line up for the buffet.
Comments: Great. I've made many a memory on Discord, with friends, family and other people I've enjoyed talking too. It's the perfect place to socialize, work, joke, cry, enjoy and get stuff done on. Discord, I would say, is for you.
Pros:
Discord is a wonderful communication, community and call your friends a/an (INSERT CURRENTLY TRENDING OBSCURE TERM THAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS UNTIL ITS NOT POPULAR ANYMORE) tool and space for everything you can think of. It's good for industry, keeping up with co workers tasks and and building community. It's good for just sending as many videos to each other until someone screams, or playing games with each other with screen sharing. This is the all-in-one package, with the total price of a pocket holes net worth. I recommend it, for everyone!
Cons:
File sharing... and occasionally bugs. Also having to troubleshoot your own mistakes and/or lack of knowledge. But that's pretty much it. There are occasionally (not very often) also bad bots who try to scam you, or send explicit content. But yeah, I would ask Discord to make file sharing more versatile for non-paid (Discord Nitro) users, but if not, it's still a good platform and tool.
A free alternative to Slack and Teams
Comments: I'm a fan of Discord, and have been using it for 6+ years. We've switched to Discord from Slack and never looked back
Pros:
Free powerhouse alternative to Teams and Slack. Has a great ecosystem of bots and tools, that are all affordable.
Cons:
The DMs are outside the Server experience, taking a bit more time to find your team mates and colleagues.
Easy to start, hard to follow
Pros:
It is easy to start and to quickly catch up on.
Cons:
The conversation threads are pretty messy. It is also hard to go back to a particular comment or reply without some work.
