The tool appears to have been built in 1989. No ability to import information from a brokerage account. Even worse. There is no ability to enter a 1099 (a 1099 has simple numbered boxes, but TurboTax business does not, nor do they use the same or even similar terms and as I found out after a 2 hour call there simply is no way to enter foreign tax expenses into TurboTax business for a partnership). The above is for an investment pool for my elderly parents structured as a Partnership, so it will be able to receive a stepup basis when they pass away so that they can seamlessly transfer assets to their grandchildren. I say this to point out that a lack of 1099 support for Partnerships is likely impacting a significant number of users. Finally. This entity started as a LLC type S, when attempting to convert to an LLC Partnership it was found that the entire business needed to be reentered. I understand that many of the forms for Type S and Partnership are different, but the preamble is not (company name, address. EIN, partner names, SSNs, addresses - this rework took about 2 hours). Last but not least, I took over the process of filing an 1120s from my accountant this year. Completed and filed my 1120s, upon reviewing my K-1 I found that I had no basis from 2024, which shouldn't be surprising since I didn't enter it, but what was frustrating was 1) it ended up being very difficult to find where to enter it 2) it is not acceptable that one needs to hunt thru the forms to enter it (there is no question asking for instance, do you have a basis from previous years to enter). > > Time consuming to reach the appropriate support (multiple transfers for each discussion. Nothing like my experience with TurboTax on my individual tax return. I chose TurboTax Business because I thought it too would be user friendly, functional and well supported. I used TurboTax for several years without issue, but when filing for 2024 taxes, they showed I was owed a refund. I submitted my tax return after confirming the refund and all the information was correct. However, TurboTax filed a different return with the government, instead showing that I owed the government money. They then made false promises after I contacted support, telling me they refunded their fee (they didn't), giving me a number to get a free tax review (the service said they wouldn't offer this to me), and then telling me it was the IRS who had amended the tax return (they hadn't). All in all, TurboTax is susceptible to major glitches in their software. Put simply, you can't trust that the return you are filing is correct. Furthermore, their customer support team is so deceptive you can only imagine it's an official policy or part of their culture to lie to customers to get them to get off the phone. After all, in the end you are liable to the federal government, so they have leverage over you even if they made a mistake. What I once thought was a great business and tool is actually one of the worst pieces of software and worst company cultures out there.
