Great way to keep track of everything

Pros:

You can use this software to monitor your drivers as well as fuel and DEF levels. You can also use it to dispatch and determine ETA's to provide on-time deliveries. Keep track of your driver's movements for the day. You can also view real-time photos of the driver's location and keep track of traffic and other issues.

Cons:

I don't have any issues with Samsara. It has a been a great help to me and my work.

Frontier

Comments: We originally switched our dashcams to the Samsara Dashcam as our prior providers product was having issues being connected and recording when it was needed. The switch was easy and the product was excellent, through that we were able to get a preview of the other features available from Samsara. When we decided to make the switch for all of our telematics it was easy and straightforward. I was surprised at how effortless it was to connect our TMS software to Samsara.

Pros:

The ease of use for both the driver and for the operations team is what stands out the most. Our drivers were able to pickup and use the Samsara ELD with little to no training as it is very intuitive.

Cons:

I would like some more integration options with 3rd party vendors that integrate directly into the driver app and not require another app to operate (Navigation, scale/toll bypass).

Dissatisfied

Comments: My overall experience with Samsara has been the worst. Not only do they force you to keep devices for 3 years even when your trucks are no longer working/total loss due to accidents. You continue to pay for non working equipment. Customer service doesn't try to resolve matters.

Pros:

software works great easy to use no issues while trucks were moving.

No issues with software. I didn't have any.

More useful than you realize

Comments: I really like the ease of use.

Pros:

I am a warehouse supervisor for a company that uses Samsara vehicle tracking. I can track vehicles in our location's fleet, know when one is at a maintenance facility and plan around that. I can find installation crews when they are in developments that have not been updated yet in other map programs (if they show an address it is typically in the middle of an open field still). I can plan the daily loading and mid shift loading around the locations provided. Our company also uses Samsara for Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), which when used properly gives our fleet managers the ability to schedule, or request immediate maintenance on our fleet. The more you use this tool and learn to use the different features available the more effective a tool it can be.

Cons:

I would like to see the aerial/sattelite photos/maps updated more frequently. Some are years old, based on buildings that were built years ago, but the picture shows a farm field.

The smart, do everything, connected vehicle solution.

Comments: Samsara has been a great tool not only in organizing and managing out vehicles and assets, but has allowed us to successfully defend against false claims. Samsara is such a value additive software, that it dampens my frustration with the many bugs and problems evident in rushed development and poor testing for certain features. I honestly can not say this for any other software I use.

Pros:

Everything you need is included, and in one place. Fleet tracking, cameras, HOS, safety, performance, and dispatch tools all live in one place. Additionally, the team is very responsive in creating one-off or custom integrations should you need them.

Cons:

The cameras, the logic by which they record, and the dashboard for viewing them could use some work. You're unable to retrieve segments more than 60 seconds in length at any one period of time. They offer a "hyperlapse" mode, but I find this to be a useless gimmick as the compression effectively omits frames making it difficult to identify incident times.

Samsara Review

Comments: Samsara has been a great service so far. I find much more value with this service than past providers. I also expect that we may begin using some of the additional features when we get time to work with them.

Pros:

Samsara is very user friendly, it seems to have endless features you can use. We like the cameras they offer and have them on all of our route service based vehicles to be able to confirm missed trash collections or confirm issues with why carts may have not been collected.

Cons:

Pulling the camera footage can occasionally be difficult just because the points on the map do not always align perfectly with the footage. This is a simple problem to fix, I just expand the amount of footage I pull.

Complete package for GPS and DOT compliance

Comments: It's really nice that Samsara GPS pings frequently. This means you can watch vehicles moving in real time, which is great for updating VIP clients. The DOT compliance portion completes the GPS services.

Pros:

It's great having GPS, driver logs and vehicle inspections in one place. Our team uses GPS daily to keep on top of trips in progress for our chauffeur service. We do have vehicles that are under FMCSA jurisdiction, so we need to keep detailed driver logs and vehicle maintenance files, which are all done through Samsara as well, making things easier.

Cons:

Unlike our last GPS service, you're not able to drop a pin to get a time when a vehicle was at a certain location. This is a bit of a nuisance and you have to guess.

Safety

Comments: not bad

Pros:

reports for idling, camera views, maintenance reports and tracking.

Cons:

location on log book is not as exact as could be. we travel northern canada and gps and logs does not state the locations

Never knew how awesome Samsara is until we installed and began working with it.

Comments: From the product offering to the customer service, Samsara is A#1

Pros:

Many hidden features that we simply did not expect; customizable options too!

Cons:

What's not to like; we have been very surprised with all Samsara offers. They don't nickel and dime you to death either.

This company seems to be the perfect example of a company including too much, most of which is quite unnecessary . Most of it constantly fails.

Samsara vs Teletrac

Comments: Overall the product is very reliable, the company is very proactive in checking on units and sending out new ones when tracking unit does not even show us a problem. they are very quick to send out add on units. customer service is GREAT !

Pros:

Very comprehensive. There are probably more thing built into the software than we actually loose.

Cons:

would like to see mile markers easier on the map search when looking at trucks.

Honest Feedback.

Comments: From install to getting educated to the use of the information daily, it has created revenue generating opportunities in addition to our core competencies.

Pros:

Ease of use and customer service along the way. The demo's helped me validate internally, and we have used other providers, but as long as Samsara has the customer support after the sale, they will wipe away any competition.

Cons:

There really isn't anything about the Samsara product that we don't like.

Free Trial

Comments: Solid overall experience. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was very nice and accommodating with anything that we needed. Overall the website works well and my drivers all said it was very user friendly.

Pros:

Hookup and setup was very easy. Website is clear and not cluttered and easy to navigate.

Cons:

It took me a little bit to figure out how to get in and see the cameras when videos were available.

Samsara The Best Product on the Market, Above and Beyond!

Comments: Samsara is next gen top of the line. We have saved millions on non-accidents due to the high quality video and camera stills. The lack of down time has saved us uncountable dollars. Very easy to setup, configure, and implement. I was able to order, receive, program, install, and have 400 trucks working in 3 months, all while taking our time. Service is the BEST I've ever dealt with, quick to reply, always answer the phone. Lifetime warranty on hardware. I could go on for hours...

Pros:

The camera will send you video when an event happens, no waiting for a driver phone call, or not being aware of an incident/accident. Has saved us millions in the first 6 months of use. The driver ELD app is customizable (workflow) and VERY EASY for drivers to learn and use. Equipment install is 5 minutes, driver training is 15 minutes. After 400 installs and driver training this time savings is enormous. Over 400 cameras, vehicle gateways, 600 trailer trackers, and ZERO hardware failures. Plug it in and it works! With no formal training I was able to unbox, program, install, and use the hardware/software the first day.

Cons:

The driver app has a few pages where there is no next or advance button, you have to use the upper left back arrow ( <- ) on some pages to go back or exit a page.

Stay Away Horrible Unethical Company that Just wants your Money

Comments: HORRIBLE, we left our previous ELD company due to awful service and unethical treatment as a customer. Samsara promised to be a good business partner and has done nothing but fall short. Do your self a favor look else where for companies that Value your business and WANT to work with you. Keep in mind this company like many others will lock you into an additional contract period (3 more years) at the end of your first one if you do not provide notice.

Pros:

The Product is somewhat simple and not to hard to use however the app will put drivers on duty when they take them off duty. Making edits in the driver reports is annoying and more time consuming than necessary due to needing to leave a remark for every edit.

Cons:

The most disgusting part about this software is the team behind it. DO NOT purchase this software. This is a money grabbing company that will use contracts and unethical tactics to take your money. This company will NOT work with you or be a good business partner. I have a Fleet that I currently am building up. Initially we signed a contract for the starting 8 devices we needed. I purchased another truck recently. I contacted Samsara for another device. In response to this they sent me a contract for an additional device. Which would have been fine however this contract had different timeline terms. Meaning at the end of my contract period we would still be liable for that other device for an additional however many months. I called my account manager to explain that I am building my fleet and planning on almost doubling my trucks. I explained I wont be purchasing these trucks at the same time, I would gradually be acquiring them and would not like to have individual contracts on every truck at different periods throughout the year. Signing the contract would have been fine if the trucks I purchased fell into the same specifications as the original contract. There was no budging or help on their end. This means I would have 6 to 8 additional trucks all with different contractual obligations. [Sensitive Content ] is who I was talking to. There was no help no budging just no. A company like this should be your business partners but Samsara just wants to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU.

Worst experience customer service not helping anything

Comments: If you need better tacking or ELD look for somewhere else. If you sign up with Samsara they get you for 3 years and can't even get away unless pay full for three years.

Pros:

Looks good that's all noting else is good

Cons:

there ELS picks up violations in elog and no one able to remove the violation. Customer with just time waste zero help from then they just can say put note its in error but how driver can driver with violation on elog. We wish we have moved out from them log time ago.

You WILL loose video

Comments: Not very good. They said this is a stated limitation.

Pros:

You will loose the first minute of almost all motion, the camera doesn't turn on when driving below 5MPH this means for the first 45 seconds or so, you will get no video, this is more than often in my experience have found when drivers will hit a wall or another car. I have missed 5 accidents so far. I subscribed to 3 years with my whole fleet, after on year, I am chalking this up as a loss. :(

Cons:

Doesnt record when the vehicle is powered on. You WILL loose important info. I never see when they leave a location, it doesn't kick on until they have hit the road. This means when they first pull of from ANYWHERE, you will loose all video

Game Changing

Comments: Game Changing. Time Saving.

Pros:

Throughout the evolution of the product in our 18 months of use, the additional features have made navigation and reporting more simple for the user and administrator. Tracking hours of service and keeping 135 drivers compliant has changed from reviewing individual logs for accuracy to scanning for violations. Knowing how many hours a driver has available tomorrow at a glance makes an immediate impact on our logistics experts ability to assign work. It's not just drivers and compliance that benefit, our logistics team, dispatchers, compliance team and the clients in the vehicles all WIN.

Cons:

Inability to prevent a driver that has logged out from being put back on duty. If a member of the fleet team moves a vehicle without logging in to that vehicle, the software places the unassigned movement on the log of the last person that was signed in.

REVIEW

Comments: Using samsara as over the rooad trucking company, this is all you need to run in compliance.

Pros:

User friendly, we have a lot of older drivers that are not very computer savvy but they all complement Samsara for how easy is to use it. Also very easy to set up and navigate. I don't want to ever use another system.

Cons:

Honestly i dont know any cons. I am very happy with it. I have been using it from the beggining.

Growing Too Fast

Pros:

They are growing and they always pick up the phone

Cons:

Company is just growing TOO FAST that is not CARING about it's customers! We have referred 5 great affiliates and using them for over 2 years while growing our fleet as well. Prices going up we stayed. We also got cameras. Since we started with them there have been a lot of issues with their equipment which we worked with them getting replacement. Their attitude was ridiculous saying that the "fixed" without charge. We have been sent contracts for bus upgrades instead of just the replacement units and therefore double charged every month. Now they like us to pay for the extra contract claiming they never sent the contracts over. Were seriously considering buying off the contract and moving on! Owner is also never present!

Review on Samsara Camera System

Comments: The overall experience has been very positive. A lot of bad habits and behaviors has been cut down tremendously. Having this technology in the truck helps ease the minds of the driver when other vehicles are not driving in a safe manner. We had a situation on our trial timeline with a tractor trailer backed up into the front of the vehicle. The driver jumped out and automatically started hollering that "we rear ended him". The driver smiled but still was making sure the driver was ok and said "that's not what my camera says". The other driver changed his story right on the spot and apologized. The Samsara representative and our staff was very impressed on the legal aspects that this system.

Pros:

- Artificial Intelligence is great - Easy to use platform - Installation was easy - Gives great overall driver information

Cons:

-Waiting to see how the backup feature for the trucks work

Deceptive Sales Practices Do Not Buy Into It

Pros:

Easy to install and site is easy to navigate. CSR was great to work with and made the training process simple and easy to understand.

Cons:

We were interested in this GPS due to the hotspot capabilities. Being able to provide GPS capability and a hotspot in one, not only would save us money, but it would be one less thing our project managers would have to keep track of in the field. When I called and spoke with CSR I specifically asked about the hotspot capabilities and was told they would support email and CRM, but would not support streaming of videos or music. That was perfect for our business, so we signed up. However, once we received the GPS it did not have enough Hotspot capability to even send emails and now we are being told that the GPS/Hotspot only supports the GPS and that they "now" offer upgraded data plans that we can purchase. We are 8 days outside the demo time period. If I was told this in the beginning I would not have signed up at all, being that you can get GPS for half the price through many other companies. I am sure they will be happy to have our business. I don't believe in a company that feels the need to be deceptive and sell under false pretenses. We are part of the largest contractor network in the US and we will not be recommending Samsara GPS simply because they do not act with integrity and honesty.

Samsara Fleet Solution

Comments: Truly and completely satisfied. I would not choose ANY other software. I have worked with them almost 3 years and have implemented across 3 different fleets with little to no issues. It is truly a Lilium inter spinas, "a Lily among the thorns"

Pros:

Accurate. Ease of use. All encompassing. ALWAYS improving and feature packed. NEXT generation LIVE tracking, 3 second delay, this is absolutely amazing. Complete and total control of the fuel usage in both trucks AND refrigerated trailers. Elog is effective and easy to manage WHEN properly used.

Cons:

There is not much, just a couple of features I'd like to see implemented, HOWEVER to their credit, they have added things I have asked for which is MAGICAL.
