Critical Design Tool

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: Overall AutoTurn is easy to use, and extremely helpful for laying out intersection and roundabout geometry.

Pros:

AutoTurn has become the standard for calculating turning paths for use in roadway design. Ease of use and functionality make the software easy to deploy and implement.

Cons:

The path linework comes in as broken splines, would be better if they were set with curves to assist with geometric layout.

AutoTurn review

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: I think it was good overall for transportation engineering purposes

Pros:

I liked using it for the purposes of modelling freight truck movements in drawn environments, ensuring they can navigate road infrastructure

Cons:

I found the software risks crashing when using 3D modelling, which could lead me to lose work completed

The best add-on that you can have for infrastructure projects

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: I usually use AutoTurn for designing parking lots, roads, intersections and highways. It helps me to design turns, curves for AASHTO standard vehicles. Its important to know if design vehicle can operate on designed infrastructure.

Pros:

The ease of use. The user interface is very easy. You can basically just use a mouse and few clicks to check and verify your design.

Cons:

Ease of installation with multiple versions of same software is difficult. We have had some trouble with using AutoTurn with different versions of OpenRoads Designer and on ProjectWise

Great tool for checking vehicle trajectories

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: This is a great tool for mapping vehicle trajectories to aid in the design of intersections, roadways, and any other vehicle maneuvering areas.

Pros:

The software can import many vehicle libraries, but you can also create custom vehicle sizes for your requirements.

Cons:

Sometimes mapping the vehicle swept paths can be a bit laggy / glitchy, especially when mapping reverse movements.
