About Adobe InDesign
Cloud-based tool that provides businesses with tools to create graphic designs and streamline marketing operations.
Photoshop gets all the attention but Indesign is the unsung hero of the print design world. It doesn't get the viral tutorials or talked about much but it's the real money maker in my opinion.
The expense and Adobe's inability to play nice with operating systems has always been a pain, and an expensive one.

Still the best despite all the competition out there.
Comments: I use it regularly though not as much as Illustrator. It does the job and makes things look beautiful and nice with the right steps. I tried to not use Adobe but I can't, it's engrained into half the things I do in a day,
Pros:
It's just as good as it used to be. Easy, intuitive. Good for PDFs, books and syncs well with what the printers also use.
Cons:
Nothing. It's just a useful application which hasn't changed much over the years, and I hope it doesn't.
The only choice for print design!
Comments: Indesign is so easy to use but like other Adobe apps, it's really powerful.
Pros:
Started using Indesign from the first version, I never really got on with Quark and pushed my agency to Adopt it.
Cons:
I think it's pretty great to be honest, I'm using a slightly older version due to my older setup.
You cannot upload anything
Comments: Terrible. It doesn't work. Again, no matter what file I try to upload to InDesign, it will take it.
Pros:
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing
Cons:
I have been trying to upload a pdf book to InDesign for weeks, unsuccessfully.
Go-to for page layout - Adobe Indesign
Comments: It remains the designer's choice for page layout. Beginners may face a learning curve, but with tutorials and practice, it becomes an indispensable part of any design workflow.
Pros:
Adobe has always been my go-to for page layout. It integrates with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Fonts. I can seamlessly move from one application to the next, enhancing workflow efficiency.
Cons:
It requires an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, which can be expensive for freelancers or small businesses.
Design Your Best with Indesign
Comments: Overall, Adobe Indesign is great way to design across a wide variety of media formats. Even for a quick sketch, I turn to Indesign to do the layout and print out a concept for meetings with C level execs.
Pros:
As this product has developed, you can tell the development team is listening to the average end-user. The controls are becoming more intuitive. This has helped me increase my productivity and complete projects in a timely manner.
Cons:
The overall cost was initially (as part of CC) felt a little steep. But once you realize you are getting live updates as the rollout and you're not having to download huge new releases, it's worth the investment.
InDesign Scissor Hands (Compression like a king)
Comments: InDesign is an amazing app and I highly recommend it to anyone doing really large books down to 1 pagers. This software would be perfect if the images weren't a headache to handle.
Pros:
I love that no matter how many pages and how heavily I load ID with graphics and images, the final PDF export is super light. Whatever compression works with InDesign, that is epic. The layout features and possibilities are incredible and make this a contender amongst similar apps even within the Adobe family.
Cons:
The most annoying thing about InDesign is the way it handles images in the editing process. There has to be a more intuitive way of adding and editing images. Drag and drop is good but when i have to adjust the image on 2 fronts, first the actual image and then the bounding box, it slows me down in image intensive designs.
Designed to Perfection
Comments: InDesign is a key part of my workflow. It is easy for newcomers to pick up and learn and helps our team create polished and professional designs fast.
Pros:
InDesign is probably the best document layout software on the market. It has tools to make grid-based or freeform layouts for everything from fliers to booklets. It is easy to drag and drop elements to build new and exciting designs.
Cons:
I have very few complaints about InDesign. The process of adding, sizing, and displaying images is a bit antiquated, but otherwise the product is very polished.
An easy to pick up design tool!
Pros:
As someone who works with Adobe products every day, I think that InDesign is the most user friendly for people just getting into graphic design work. I think it is easy to use the text features, as well as to layout photos, add details like strokes, colorizing, transparencies, and fades.
Cons:
I find the pen tool weirdly hard to use and that typing on a path can be finicky.
Perfect software to create print material
Pros:
Allows me to quickly create print material and easily exports to pdfs that are easy for my printer to work with.
Cons:
Template master pages can be difficult to navigate and create.
Perfect for contract building.
Comments: Overall I love InDesign and will use it weekly. This software has got me in the room with millionaires and has changed the look of my business. I will continue to recommend it to all of my associates.
Pros:
I love that I am able to create professional proposals for my business. Being in government contracting requires professional quotes and Adobe InDesign allows me to do that with ease.
Cons:
They don't have tutorials to teach you how to use features. That would make the software that much better.
Higher Education User Review of More than 6+ Years
Pros:
I like how Adobe InDesign is fully integrated into the Adobe Suite (Adobe Creative Cloud). After you learn to navigate the tool, the ability to create high-level content that has reliable access, several import/exporting mediums, and access to various assets is a major plus for InDesign.
Cons:
There is a bit of a learning curve with Adobe InDesign. You don't need to necessarily pay for training as there are numerous free trainings and DIY videos to learn from.
Experienced designer's go to for print design.
Comments: I've been working with Adobe InDesign since it came out and have always been impressed. I've used it for years creating for both print and digital for everything form 300 page books to business cards and flyers.
Pros:
InDesign is the ultimate tool for laying out designs that are a combination of images and copy and is particularly great for text-heavy designs. There's a little bit of a learning curve because some of the features are more advanced, but this is what makes InDesign great - you have more design flexibility, more tools for consistency, and better layout tools.
Cons:
I really like everything about InDesign.
Still Worth Every Penny
Comments: I am more than happy with Adobe InDesign. I love that Adobe is constantly innovating, which makes me feel content with the subscription model. For a few years I had been more comfortable with the idea of purchasing actual software (back when it came in a physical box!), but the hassle of having to buy new software every couple of years got old. In this technology age, we as professional designers have to stay on top of innovations, and Adobe keeps the tools updated so I can in turn innovate in my creative field.
Pros:
I have been using InDesign on a daily basis ever since Adobe donated software to my student-run college newspaper in 1999. That donation opened the door to exploring a world of print layout that I never knew existed, and eventually led to a career in graphic design. InDesign is the main tool in my tool belt, and without it I would have a different occupation altogether. Some people like to complain about the price point, but when you consider a) the value it provides creatives as a tool b) the innovation required by Adobe over decades to produce and constantly refine the software, and c) the lack of a comparatively robust or functional alternative for the design professional, it's a wonder that it's as cheap as it is.
Cons:
I wish InDesign had a chart-making tool. Illustrator has one, but it is in dire need of updating.
Great software for design
Comments: Great software to use when you are doing any type of brochure or flyer
Pros:
it's easy to use and similar to the other app on the Adobe Cloud
Cons:
It's a minor pet peeve but I have always hated adding images and accidently cropping them if I havent selected the correct button rather than resizing
Adobe InDesign is a Great Program
Comments: Overall, Adobe InDesign is an effective program that allows me to accomplish what I need.
Pros:
Adobe InDesign is perfect for creating posters and flyers for the business.
Cons:
One downfall is that there is no photo editing allowed in InDesign which would be helpful when I need a quick edit.
Great for editorial design!
Pros:
I love that you can control the design of your files, from typography, color, and style to spacing and alignment. The interface is user-friendly and I love how integrates easily with the rest of Adobe suite like Illustrator and Photoshop.
Cons:
I'd love to see more step-by-step tutorials on some tools that are not easy to get or learn from the get-go. Some of the features seem overwhelming at first and challenging to learn quickly.
Great product
Pros:
Exemplary product for creating publications! The ability to fine tune all typography settings is wonderful.
Cons:
The CC subscription price is higher than I can justify for personal work. Otherwise I would own it on all of my computers.
Solid tool for your graphic design needs
Comments: Solid. good. product for graphic design needs. Especially for print designs.
Pros:
It is an awesome product for graphic design. Mainly used it for print designs, but good - if you like it that way - for websites and other web designs also.
Cons:
It can be bit difficult at first, like all the tools that has this much features packed in it. Once you start using it, it is is quite easy.
Great product for all design needs
Pros:
No designer could be without this product! It has all the tools and options needed to create a wide variety of marketing materials as well as graphic design assets.
Cons:
It can be hard to use and take a while to learn to become quick, for example using shortcuts.
Love using indesign
Pros:
Indesign is incredibly versatile piece of software, from creating social media graphics to designing for print it makes it easy to do and really helps with our consistency of brand output.
Cons:
Nothing major that causes us any issues, it is by far the best adobe software to use
Great platform once you learn how to use it
Comments: I will be using this for many tasks in my business in the future. Worth the price and learning to use.
Pros:
It has great features and once you have learnt how to you use it can be used for many things. I can create templates, planners, books etc
Cons:
It's a bit tricky to learn but worth it when you do
INDD is Perfect for Designers
Pros:
Adobe has great tutorials out there for those who are new to the software.
Cons:
It seems to always require an update for only minor improvements if anything at all.
Great for layuts
Pros:
I like that it makes it easy to make eye catching publications, with many tools and features
Cons:
It can be a bit difficult to learn how to use it at first
Fancy and more powerful Microsoft publisher
Pros:
Very powerful, accurate and easy to use once understand how to use it
Cons:
Not as intuitive as MS Publisher. Often find myself using less powerful software for quickness
Easy & fast to implement
Pros:
The ease to incorporate with the creative cloud express software makes it perfect for our marketing team. The features makes it the best software for making graphic designs.
Cons:
So far, Adobe InDesign has been the perfect software for us. I do not have any cons with the platform.
